Flight to Germany
The flight was not bad at all. Sophie was wide-awake, and it was very hard for her to sleep with all the excitement and lights. She cried for about 5 min. when we tried to put her down. It felt like 5 hours.
Heathrow is a cruddy airport and the bank machine gives pounds instead of euros so we had to go to the moneychanger anyway. Oh well.
The attendants on Lufthansa for the connexn were SO NICE. Instead of acting rude about Sophie, they were all so welcoming toward her, and had us wait as we boarded the plane, while they dug out some toys and treats for her! They also warmed up the milk for her.
When we got to Munchen airport at 6:30pm, it was totally deserted! Very strange and antiseptic and typically German. The car rental guy gave us NO MAP but we figured, when we got to the booth to get out of the car park, we would be able to get our map. There was no little booth. You just drive out of the garage to the road.
We tried with no luck to find our hotel, but after a long time driving and finally giving up and going back to the airport for a map, we found our hotel. It was a beautiful drive around the airport. Very green, lots of fields and such and bike paths!
The hotel is an airport Sheraton, and is pretty nice. Just about what you'd expect for a Sheraton.
Sophie didn't go down until 3am our time? We watched the live 8 concert featuring Stevie Wonder.
