Rain, Rain go away!

No one told us that Austria has a little known monsoon season. We have found this out by chance. Thank god we brought all our rain gear - coats and umbrellas.

We walked downtown this am after breakfast and hit the market and tried to find some warm clothes to buy. But there are only small little specialty shops in the downtown.

We ended up having to go to Innsbruck to shop. It was awful. We drove around aimlessly in the rain trying to find the stores we had seen the day before, to no avail. We finally found the mall and of course, had to walk thru clouds of people puffing away with no ventilation.

We drove up to the top of a mountain on a teeny windy road to a town called Hinterholn where there are supposedly dairy cows in meadows and one little restaurant. It was so cloudy and rainy we couldn't see over the sides of the sheer cliffs, which was a good thing. I imagined getting to the meadow that Maria was singing on, but all we could see were clouds, so we immediately began the harrowing 6km descent.

Marcine tried to get our clothes washed at the campground laundry, but the ONE dryer was broken. After dinner, we once again headed to Innsbruck to hunt down the only laundromat in any town. It’s called Bubble Point. I am paying to surf the internet here.
